John Daniel “Dan” Bearden, 87, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was born in November 1928 in Chattanooga to the late Ida Mae McLaughlin and Hugh Bearden; and was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years and his best friend for 70 years, Mildred McClure Bearden; son, John Daniel “Danny” Bearden; sister, Sue Bearden; and brothers, Floyd Stephenson, Stanley Bearden, Preston Bearden and Leslie Bearden.
Mr. Bearden was retired from Colonial Baking Company after 38 years. He loved his family and extended family at church. He was a long time member of Grove Level Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. His beautiful voice praised God with every breath. He has now found his “Beulah Land”.
Mr. Bearden is survived by his daughter, Kathy Bearden Gurley of Ringgold, GA; son, Timothy Bearden of Dalton, GA; brother, Robert & Faye Bearden of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Margaret and Brian Carr of Dalton, Jason & Melissa Bearden of York, NE, Jonathan & Myra Bearden of Chatsworth and Jaime & Meagan Bearden of Ringgold; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Megan Carr, Emma Bearden and Lucas & Lainey Bearden; several nieces and nephews; and his four legged companion, Bella.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Bearden will be held Monday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at Grove Level Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Bridges and Rev. Bill Walker officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 2-6 p.m.
