Barbara Ponder Mansfield, 86, of Dalton, GA, died on  Monday, March 23, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hudon J. Mansfield; parents, Robert Oscar Ponder, Rossie Staten Ponder; daughter, Iris Darlene Mansfield; grandson, Gregory Scott Morgan; brother, Robert O. Ponder, Jr.; sister-in-law, Hilda Ponder; and brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Bill & Louise Mansfield, Trammel & Louise King and Jess & Juanita Mansfield.

Barbara Mansfield significantly touched the lives of many. Family, friends, church family and members of the community are blessed with her strong and loving legacy. A loving, courageous and independent woman, Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and the many dear friends she made through her professional relationships as the first female real estate agent in Dalton, her activities with volunteer work for Hamilton Medical Center, the Northwest Georgia Girls Home, First Baptist Church of Dalton, First United Methodist Church of Dalton and many, more. 

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Pam) Morgan; son-in-law, Steven L. Morgan of Lady’s Island, SC; son, Donnie M. Mansfield; daughter-in-law, Donna M. Mansfield; grandson, Joshua M. Mansfield of Dalton; sister, Dorothy P. Holcomb; brother-in-law, John R. Holcomb; sister, Jewel King; brother-in-law, Arnold King of Dalton; brother, Henry F. Ponder; sister-in-law, Frances D. Ponder of Huntsville, AL; and brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ted & Louise Holt of Dalton.

A celebration of her life will be organized for a future date.

The family asks that any donations in lieu of flowers be made to the American Cancer Association of America.
