William “Bill” Lawrence Bowman, 79, of Chattanooga, died peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill graduated from Baylor and went to Cumberland College, where he met his beautiful wife, Carol. He was a 17-year employee of Southern Oil and Weiser Security Services for 17 years.  William was a member of the North American Hunting Club and recipient of the NRA Golden Eagle Award.  He was a member of Abba’s House since the age of 22 and taught Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coke Bowman and Hazel Rice Bowman; sister, Diane Bowman Nason; and daughter, Susan Bowman Wolfe.

William will be greatly missed by those who survive him, including his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Bowman; one son, William Lawrence Bowman Jr.; grandchildren, Candace Wolfe, Crystal Bowman and William Lawrence Bowman III; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, and 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, at Abba’s House. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at Abba’s House with Pastor Ron Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
