Loudon, TN – The Dalton State men’s golf team fired a 292 on Tuesday, 18 strokes better than Monday’s 310, to move from a tie for fourth to sole possession of second place with a 602 in the 36-hole Tennessee River Rumble at the Greg Norman designed Tennessee National Golf Course.

“We put ourselves in a hole Monday and we gave it a good effort today,” said Dalton State Men’s Coach Ben Rickett. “I am proud of how the guys responded today,” added Rickett. “Obviously it is disappointing finishing second but it’s also promising seeing how the teams form with an important part of our schedule coming up. There are still some things that need ironing out, but overall another fun week being a Roadrunner.”

The hosts from Lincoln Memorial (304-289 = 593) finished with the victory. Their Braden Galyon was medalist. Brevard College (309-302 = 611) remained in third. Washburn (313-304 = 617) improved to forth. Carson-Newman (310-308 = 618) ended up fifth. Catawba College (307-312 = 619) dropped from second to sixth. Tusculum College (320-302 = 622) was seventh.

Hillsdale (317-315 = 632), Walters State (325-310 = 635), and Taylor University (327-313 = 640) finished out the top ten. Lincoln Memorial’s B-Team finished 11th, the LMU C Team tied for 12th with Anderson (SC) with a 646. Findlay was a distance 14th (657).

The Roadrunners Sean Elliott (78-69 = 147) finished tied for second. Maximillian Bruck (78-73 = 151) and Chase Jones (75-76 = 151) tied for 10th place individually. Anthony D’Angelo (79-74 = 153) tied for 15th. Levi Nix (79-78 = 157) was tied for 25th. Playing as an individual, Dalton State’s Austin Hughes finished tied for 15th (80-73 = 153). There were 84 players in the tournament.

Dalton State men’s golf travels to Orlando next to compete in the Golfweek’s Spring Invitational. The Roadrunners are ranked No. 10 in the country in the most recent NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll 25.
