Police Blotter: $24,000 Diamond Ring Stolen From Car On 8th Street

A woman said a $24,000 diamond ring was stolen from her vehicle that was parked on Eighth Street.

Police said it is possible that the Mercury Marquis was left unlocked.

The woman found the box where the ring had been kept on the floor below the glovebox.

The ring was described as having a yellow 14-carat gold band with white gold diamond-shaped prongs. The prongs held a two-carat center diamond with four Princess stones on each side.

A man at a business on Brown's Ferry Road said he saw someone driving off from the firm with a steel gate and another piece of property.

The vehicle was a red truck.

Police investigated an incident of road rage. 

A woman stopped on South Terrace said the matter started when a black Escalade was cut off and "hands were thrown in the air."

She said the Escalade stopped at a red light and a black male and black female "with tattoos" got out. They threatened to shoot her, but did not display weapons.

At Dollar General on East Brainerd Road, customers reported a woman was stuffing her purse with items.

Store personnel said Tina Vogt paid for several small items, then tried to leave with others.

She was asked what was in her purse and she pulled out 4-5 outfits of clothing.

She was charged with theft under $500.

At St. Mary CME Church on Wheeler Avenue, the air conditioning unit was cut away. It was found lying in nearby grass.

The breaker box was turned off prior to the attempted theft.

At Rossville Tire and Auto, the store purchased tires and wheels from a black male for $40.

He was given a $100 bill and told to go across the street and get change, then return with the $60.

The man, described as in his 30s and driving a white sedan, did not bother with bringing back the change.

Police answered a noise complaint at the Hamilton Inn on Lee Highway.

The caller said a woman was making a loud noise.

Donna Worley said, yes, it was her.

She said she was getting back at her neighbor for being loud the night before.
