Casteel, William Mallen "Bill" (Cleveland)

William Mallen “Bill” Casteel, 73, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015.

He was born on July 10, 1941 to the late Otto and Girthel Casteel. Bill served 25 years as a deacon at Eastside Church of Christ and as an elder at Union Grove Church of Christ for the past 2 and a half years. He retired from Cleveland Chair Company in the Catnapper Division after 40 years plus. Bill received an honorable discharge from the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley; children, Rodney (Becky) Casteel and Tina (Johnny) Nix; grandchildren, Matthew Casteel, Heather (Travis) Cline, Ryan Nix, Kelsey Nix and Abbie Bentley; and one great-grandchild, Bayleigh Cline. 

A celebration of life service is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at the Eastside Church of Christ located at 252 Wildwood Avenue with brothers Steve Hall and Bill Maynard officiating the service. Pallbearers include Matthew Casteel, Ryan Nix, Travis Cline, Johnny Nix, Bill Flowers and Donald Fugate. 

A visitation period will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to either Avalon Hospice of Athens or the Union Grove Church of Christ.

Companion Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
