Rail Runners Lose in CBA Semis

Four Players Earn All-Star Honors

For the second straight season the Chattanooga Rail Runners basketball team won the regular season, but have also lost in the Central Basketball Association playoff semifinals.

Saturday night in Fort Wayne, Ind., the host and No.4 seed Fort Wayne Flite upset the No.1 Rail Runners, 85-80.

Chattanooga was led by Brainerd HS alums E'Jay Ward and Fred Sturduvant with 17 points each.

The Flite met No.2 Bowling Green (Ky.) in today's championship game.

All-Stars: Chattanooga coach Paul Gaffney is the coach of the year and the Rail Runners have two players on the first team and one each on the second and third teams.

First Team:

Guard:  E'Jay Ward (Brainerd HS/Tenn. Wesleyan)

11.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 8.5 apg, 4.4 spg, 0.2 bpg

Forward: Jonathan Adams (Baylor School/Old Dominion University)

13.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.7 apg, 0.3 spg, 1.5 bpg

Second Team:

Forward: Fred Sturdivant (Brainerd HS/Texas Southern University)

15.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.6 apg, 0.8 spg, 2.4 bpg

Third Team:

Guard: Alex Wells (East Ridge HS/Lee University)

20.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.2 spg, 0.5 bpg
