Ruby Jewell Bennett, 83, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at her residence.
A native of Chattooga County, she was born to the late William B. and Alma Potts Starkey on May 16, 1931. She was a homemaker and a member of Sonrise Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Bennett; a daughter, Karen Bennett; a sister, Eunice Willingham; three brothers, James Starkey, Judson Starkey and Charlie Starkey.
Survivors are son & spouse, Jim and Liz Bennett of Summerville; two grandsons, Shannon Bennett (Kerri) and David Tapp (Amber); great-grandsons, Rhett Maddux, Jacob Bartels, Keith McGraw, Matthew Tapp and Chris Craig; great-granddaughters, Kelsey Craig, Liz Craig, Destinee McGuire, Reese Bennett, Sydney Bennett and Alexia McGuire;brother, David Harrison Starkey of Trion; close friend, Pat Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Biddle officiating. Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Shannon Bennett, Rhett Maddux, Jacob Bartels, Keith McGraw, David Tapp, and Bobby Groce. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruthie Groce, Teresa LuAllen, Nancy Light, Pat Woods, Freda McCrickard, Roxie Weesner, Maxine Jones and Deb Warnock.
Visitation for Mrs. Bennett will be at the Funeral Home from noon until the hour of service on Thursday, May 7.
