Chattanooga History Center Presents Medical History Program June 23

The Chattanooga History Center will present Just What the Doctor Ordered: A History of Medicine in Chattanooga at 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 23,, 2015 in the History Center’s meeting room. The fee is $10 (members $5). Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The deadline is Monday, June 22nd. Call 423-265-3247, extension 1, or visit chattanoogahistory.org to register.

Medicine has come a long, long way in the past 200 years.

We’ll take a look, using artifacts from the CHC collection, at the ways Chattanoogans involved themselves in the process. Discover what a surgeon's kit from the Civil War can illustrate about battlefield medical care, how Wine of Carduipromised to cure women's ailments, the legacy of Chattanooga's environmental past on people's health, and much more on this exciting journey through Chattanooga's medical history.
