Leonard Preston Mahaffey, 84, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Monday June 1, 2015 after a short battle of cancer.
He was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. He also loved Braves Baseball, Fishing, and volunteering with his church, helping those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ellen Mahaffey; brother, Jr. Mahaffey; and sisters, Mary Everett and Grovina Gates.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jane Farris Mahaffey; daughter, Debbie Cope (Alan) of Cleveland; Kay Jones (Gene) of Cleveland; grandchildren, Josh Jones (Brielle) of Cleveland, Kayla Whaley (Cody) of Benton, TN, Jonathan Cope (Amber) of Ringgold, GA and Whitney Culley (Michael) of Paris, TN; great-grandson, Cason Whaley of Benton, TN; sister, Laverne Cooke of Vonore, TN; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday June 3, at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Alan Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, TN with Alan Cope, Gene Jones, Josh Jones, Jonathan Cope, Cody Whaley and Michael Culley serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 2, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 3 from 10-11 a.m. service time.
