County School Board To Vote July 16 On New Contract For Supt. Rick Smith

  • Thursday, June 25, 2015

The County School Board will vote July 16 on a new contract for Supt. Rick Smith.

He has led the county schools since July 2011 when the board voted 5-3 to name him to the top school post.

Mr. Smith had long served the county schools as assistant superintendent.

He recently received high marks in an evaluation by board members.

Mr. Smith recently led an unsuccessful campaign to convince the County Commission to approve a 40-cent property tax increase to provide $34 million in new funds for the county schools.
