James L. "Jim" Williams, 81, of Signal Mountain, died on July 22, 2015.

He was born on March 9, 1934 in Chattanooga, the son of the late Lewis and Bernola Williams. Mr. Williams was a graduate of Central High School where he was a football and track star. He held several state track records. He was retired from DuPont and was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Cain Williams; son, James Lewis Williams Jr.; and sister, June Williams Jones.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie (Jon) Garvich and Becky Conner; grandchildren, Tenley (Nick) Armstrong and Mack Conner; great-grandson, Charlie Armstrong; nephews, Charles (Karen) Jones and Jim Jones.

A service to commemorate his life will be held at noon on Saturday, July 25, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.

The family will gather with friends on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Catoosa County Childrens Fund; 307 Cleveland Street, Ringgold, Ga. 30736.
