The Covenant cross country teams were back on the course for a third straight week, this time at the third annual University of North Georgia Invitational. Spookie Eaves and Micah Sneller led the women's and men's teams in the events as the women placed 11th of 20 and the men were 13th of 16.
On the women's side, Eaves finished 30th in a field of 170 runners with her 6k time of 24:44.8. Ruthie Cargill came in at 41st with her time of 25:14, while Margaret Fitch was 68th as she completed the course in 26:18.
Four freshmen set personal records in the 6k led by Lilly Smith's time of 26:39.3, which placed her 75th overall.
Hannah Samuels was the fifth Covenant finisher with her new career-best time of 26:49.7. Stephanie Lutz was not far behind as she finished in 26:52.9 and Juliette Henry bested her previous record by two seconds.
Covenant finished 11th with 258 points, one spot better than regional rival Berry. The Lady Scots also finished higher than LaGrange and Agnes Scott. SCAD Atlanta was the team champion with three runners finishing in the top 10.
For a second straight week, freshman Micah Sneller was Covenant's top finisher on the men's side. Sneller came in with an 8k time of 29:48.7 for a 72nd place finish overall. Fellow freshman Josh Humpherys set a personal record with a time of 30:28.4 and was 82nd. Reed Vaughn was the third Covenant finisher at 30:44.5, while Nathan Bierema (31:16.1) and Phil Moore (32:26.4) rounded out the top five.
Covenant was two spots higher than USA South foe LaGrange in the meet. Dalton State had four runners finish in the top 10 as the Roadrunners took the team title.
