Burgess, William "Bill" Cecil

William (Bill) Cecil Burgess, 83, a lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

He was the son of the late Cecil G. Burgess and Caroline Burgess Luther.  Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and worked for TVA before becoming self-employed doing carpentry work.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by everyone. Bill attended Silverdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Marilyn Burgess; three children, William J. (Sharon) Burgess, Daniel E. (Marguerite) Burgess, Teresa (Charles) Dillard; three grandchildren, Christina Burgess, William J. Burgess, Jr and Briana Dillard; sister, Cecilia Anderson; brother, Paul Burgess and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Travis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the U.S. Navy providing honors.
