Corker Gives Statement Ahead Of Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment

  • Thursday, October 27, 2016

Senator Bob Corker on Thursday released the following statement ahead of Affordable Care Act open enrollment, which begins Nov. 1.

“The Affordable Care Act was sold to the American people as a way to bring down health care costs and provide certainty to individuals and companies across our country.

Unfortunately, the reality Tennesseans will face as open enrollment begins next week is far different. In our state alone, many individuals will face 44 to 62 percent price increases, and with the leading insurer recently exiting three metro areas due to losses and uncertainty in the marketplace, families will have far fewer choices. These consequences are part of the reason I strongly opposed passage of the law. Our challenge now is to come together around a responsible solution that will alleviate the negative effects this law has had across our country and ensure that Tennesseans have access to affordable and quality health care.”

Senator Corker opposed passage of the Affordable Care Act and has supported legislation to repeal it.
