Walker County Investigating Death Of Inmate, 40

The Walker County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the early Saturday morning death of inmate Christopher Michael O'Daniel, 40.

O'Daniel was arrested Friday evening in the Chickamauga area on a failure to appear charge from the Floyd County, Ga.
Police Department. O'Daniel was housed at the Walker County Detention Facility awaiting transfer to Floyd County.

At about 12:20 a.m. Saturday a detention officer observed O'Daniel was not breathing. EMS was summoned to the detention facility. Medics were unsuccessful in resuscitating O'Daniel.

The body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. The manner and cause of death is undetermined at this time.
