Demetrus Coonrod Announces She Will Run For City Council District 9 Seat

  • Sunday, November 27, 2016

Demetrus Coonrod, franchise owner of JanPro and native of Chattanooga, is seeking to be elected to City Council District 9.

District 9 includes East Chattanooga, Eastdale, Glenwood, Missionary Ridge and Ridgedale.

Ms. Coonrod said, "I am running for City Council District 9. Serving and being a servant is a personal commitment that I have made to the constituents in District 9 and surrounding communities. Life has happened in District 9 and the voiced concerns have fell on muted ears. Together we can unite and make a positive difference for all of District 9.

"I have worked along with the community for improvements to Wilcox Tunnel, accessible transportation to Amazon/Volkswagen, pushed leadership to support Ban the Box, and a voice for restoration of rights for convicted felons.

"I make a pledge to District 9 and surrounding communities to work hard for education, economic mobility, secure public safety and infrastructure.

"I am the vice-chair of the Hamilton County Democrat Party, president of Eastdale Neighborhood Association, and serve on the board of The Sports Barn, Community Development Block Grant, and Causeway.

"With your help we will improve District 9 so every community, every business and every family will be successful. Together we can create an environment to live, work and play."
