Shannon Whitfield Runs Away With Walker County Commissioner Race

  • Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Republican Shannon Whitfield ran away with the three-way race for Walker County sole commissioner.

He was far ahead of veteran incumbent Bebe Heiskell and Independent Perry Lamb.

It was:

Whitfield 16,959

Lamb 3,435

Heiskell 2,911

Ms. Heiskell, who in prior years ran as a Republican, chose the Independent route this time.

A focus of the race was the Walker County debt, including a looming amount owed to Erlanger Health System for its operation of Hutcheson Medical Center at Fort Oglethorpe.
