More Than 300 High School Students Attend Transition Fair At GNTC’s Floyd County Campus

A crowd of more than 300 students came to GNTC’s Transition Fair on the Floyd County Campus in Rome.

More than 300 High School students attended the Transition Fair held at Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County Campus in Rome to learn about the different academic programs and services the college has to offer and other options for life after High School.  
 
Students from Armuchee High School, Coosa High School, Model High School, Chattooga High School, and Calhoun High School came to the Floyd County Campus Conference Center to interact with GNTC faculty and staff.
Additional representatives from other area colleges, the U. S. Army, and personnel from various businesses and healthcare facilities were there to offer resources for students transferring from K-12 to work or post-secondary education.  
 
GNTC academic program representatives included instructors from Auto Collision, Business Technology, Computer Information Systems, Horticulture, Industrial Systems Technologies, Industrial Electrical Controls, Instrumentation and Controls, Machine Tool Technology, Marketing, and Medical Assisting.
 
GNTC staff was also on hand to provide information about admissions, academic support, adult education, disability services, special populations, student life, and additional student services.
 
There also were representatives and vendors from Dalton State College, Dept. of Behavior Health and Developmental Disability, DIGS Rome, Floyd Training Center, Georgia Highlands College, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Highland Rivers, Kennesaw State University Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth, Parent to Parent, Regions Bank, the U.S. Army, Watters & Associates Landscaping, and others.
 
This was the ninth Transition Fair offered to area high school students. The first one was hosted at Georgia Highlands College in 2008. There will be upcoming transition fairs offered at GNTC’s Gordon, Polk, and Walker County Campuses in 2017.
