John David Duncan (Dave), 87, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Harold Baldwin Duncan and Nina Johnston Duncan and was the grandson of the late State Senator David W. Duncan and Carrie Baldwin Duncan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Hyde Duncan and son, Keith Chandler Duncan.

He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and the University of Tennessee. Dave served in the US Navy on the USS Saipan from 1946-1948. He worked for the Dupont Company for 7 years, and was Vice President of Keller Industries. He was retired from Duncan Feed and Farm Supply of Niota,Tn, as president and owner. He was an avid golfer. He belonged to Spring Brook Golf and Country Club, he also loved to fish and hunt. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He served as President Shrine Club of Athens, He served as president of McMinn Live Stock Association for over 20 years. He also owned and operated Scenic Hills Farm in McMinn County. He served as chairman of McMinn Senior Association and was instrumental in building the McMinn Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife Betty and son David Duncan, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; step-daughter Paulette and husband Harvey Smart of Ludington, MI, Sherrie and husband Greg Conway of Cleveland and Lisa Ann Ingram of Athens, TN; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one special niece Charlotte Colley of Cleveland; one special nephew Rothell Forgey of Cleveland.

A viewing will be held on Monday Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday Dec. 6 at 11 a.m.  also at Companion Funeral Home, with Jeff Duncan officiating the service. Interment will follow in the New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery on Chatata Valley Road.

Companion Funeral and Cremation Service has charge of the arrangements.
