Kevin Muhammad Says Officer In Shooting Case On Mission Avenue Should Submit To Lie Detector Test

  • Tuesday, December 6, 2016

Kevin Muhammad, local leader of the Nation of Islam, is asking that the officer who police say was shot three times on Mission Avenue in Glenwood take a lie detector test.

The same officer was shot in College Hill Courts, he noted.

Rev. Muhammad, who was invited earlier by the City Council to give a special budget presentation, said, "Is it asking too much to have the officer involved submit to a lie detector test?

"I know they are not permissible in court. However, we are dealing with the court of public opinion. We have liars who are police officers! Liars who are lawyers! Liars who are District Attorneys! Liars who are Mayors! Liars who are Judges! Liars!

"When Wadie Suttles was murdered, there was one officer who was on duty that night in the City Jail that refused to take a lie detector test. This same officer eventually became the trainer of officers for the CPD. This same officer was used as an expert witness in police brutality cases and cases where citizens were killed by the police. By doing this, in the court of public opinion, the CPD lost trust.

"There is more about this case and this officer that will be shared at another time."

The officer, who was wearing a protective vest, drove himself to the hospital and was released.

There was a wide-spread manhunt for the shooter, but no one was arrested.

A large reward has been offered.
