TBI Arrests, Charges Fayette County Man Accused Of Threatening Judge

  • Monday, February 15, 2016

Kevin Michael Vinyard, 42, of Oakland was arrested and charged with threatening the life of a judge.  Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation worked alongside investigators from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office before making the arrest.

On Sunday, at the request of 25th District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, TBI Special Agents began investigating allegations of threats against a Fayette County judge. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that Vinyard made more than 100 threats against the judge in text messages. The investigation further revealed Vinyard made the threats in response to a previous incarceration, which Vinyard attributed to the judge.

On Sunday, agents, with the assistance of sheriff’s deputies, arrested and charged Vinyard with one count of retaliation for past action, one count of assault, and one count of harassment.

He was subsequently booked into the Fayette County Jail on $1,000,000 bond.
