The group creates entertaining programs with melodies and rhythms from around the world. Their repertoire includes rudimental drumming, ragtime xylophone, and original compositions that embrace global streams of contemporary music styles.
As chamber musicians, Sympatico members have recorded and toured internationally and across the country with Pendulum Duo, Shiraz Trio, Alias Chamber Ensemble, Rosewind Duo, the Bob Becker Ensemble, and the Jack Daniel’s Silver Cornet Band. As symphonic percussionists, their list of credits includes membership in the Rochester Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra, Alabama Symphony, New Orleans Symphony, Eastern Philharmonic, and the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”
As Sympatico Percussion, the group has performed at several Percussive Arts Society events, at the PAS International Convention, and for university, community, and festival concert series. Collectively, the group’s collegiate teaching experience exceeds 70 years with recent appointments at The Ohio State University (Krygier and Powell), Belmont University (Norton), the University of South Carolina (Herring), and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Keeton).
