Chattanooga Football Club Releases 2016 Schedule

  • Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Chattanooga Football Club has released the match dates and times of its 2016 schedule. Highlights include the league home opener against Nashville FC on Saturday, May 21, and a Fourth of July weekend regular season finale at home against rival New Orleans on Saturday, July 2. Chattanooga FC competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).

Chattanooga FC’s 2016 regular season consists of 10 matches (five home, five away) during May, June, and July. Additional matches from other competitions, including US Open Cup matches, potential exhibition matches, and United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) matches are still in the works and will be added to the schedule soon.

CFC averaged over 3,000 supporters per match last season, and CFC General Manager Sean McDaniel hopes to see that number continue to grow.

He said, “It’s a family-friendly environment, and it’s the best way to spend a Saturday night during the summer in Chattanooga. Each season our attendance numbers go up as more and more fans discover how electric Finley Stadium becomes on match day.”

Chattanooga FC is known not only for their record-breaking home attendance numbers (18,227 fans attended CFC’s championship match in Finley Stadium last August), but they also have a reputation of having high turnout for away matches, too. Members of Chattanooga FC’s supporter group, The Chattahooligans, anxiously await the release of the CFC schedule each year, and many make their summer travel plans around CFC’s away schedule.

As part of their away schedule, CFC will kick off the season against league-newcomers Birmingham Hammers in Birmingham on May 14. On June 11, CFC travels to a Chattahooligan-favorite away match destination – New Orleans.
