World War II Veteran Held Long Career With TVA

Joseph W. Cade Sr., 91, of Signal Mountain, died on April 25, 2016.

He was born in Columbus, Ms., grew up in Sheffield, Al., and lived in the Chattanooga area for over 65 years. He attended the University of the South and Duke University and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed by TVA for 38 years. He was a member of Signal Mountain Church of Christ.

He is survived by Dorothy Wood Cade, his beloved wife of 70 years; three children, Linda (Maston) Lyons, Becky (Grady) Oakley, and Joseph W. Cade Jr.; four grandchildren, Matt (Leslie) Lyons, Erin (Robert) Jackson, Josh (Rachel) Oakley, and Katie Oakley; and seven precious great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Cade of Macon, Ms., his brother and sister-in-law, Lawson and Evelyn Cade of Starkville, Ms., and daughter-in-law, Susan McCleskey of Murfreesboro, Tn.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, at the funeral home with Minister Greg Nance officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park
