Joseph Jones
Joseph “Joe” Levan Jones, 65, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, in a local hospital.
Joseph was born in Chattanooga, TN on May 5, 1951.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Bell Jones and William C. Freeman; three brothers, Ernest Thaxton, William Freeman and Eddie Jones; sister, Mildred Smith.
He is survived by his siblings, Emma Patton, Faye (Eugene) Norman of Chattanooga; Goldie Thomas of Denver; Hershel (Edith) Garrett of Chester, PA; John Lewis, Bobby (Janice) Jones, James Jones, and Alfonzo Jones of Chattanooga; devoted nephew, Antwan Thomas; aunt, Lillie Sturdivant; spiritual father, Bishop James Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 28, at New Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ, located at 2311 Bliss Avenue. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, May 27, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
