Deanna Swafford Pritchett, 74, of Ringgold, died on Saturday, May 7, 2016. 

She was born in Campbell County, Tn., to the late Sam and Ollie Swafford but had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life.  She graduated from Cumberland College with her bachelor of arts degree and then received her master’s in education degree from Berry College. She was a teacher with the Walker County Board of Education for more than 30 years and then served as a volunteer with Hutcheson once she retired.  She enjoyed traveling with Knoxville Tour Group and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church where she was active with the Crusaders Sunday School Class, the Golden Ager’s and the Awana Ministry. 

She was a loving wife, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sammy Swafford and Paul Swafford and sister, Evelyn Douglas.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 39 years, David Pritchett of Ringgold; siblings, Charles Swafford, of Rossville, John Swafford, of Akin, S.C., Leonard Swafford of Chickamauga, Violet Head, of Rossville, Eva Clark, of Rossville, Janice Gaddis, of Chickamauga, and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Choice Hospice of Lafayette for the kindness and care shown through this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor David Sampson officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens South. 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and until time of service on Wednesday.
