Billy Ray Dickerson, 82, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, died on Friday, June 10, 2016.

Billy was born in Shaivies, Al., on Dec. 15, 1933. He graduated from Central High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. Bill was a faithful member of Mile Straight Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He also taught Sunday School for many years at other churches. He raised and showed Bassett hounds and was past president of Chattanooga Kennel Club. He was an avid sports fan.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Newman A. Dickerson and stepfather, Dallas Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty A. Dickerson; son, Timothy Dickerson and wife, Lisa; mother, Eme Dell Wright; grandchildren, Christina Priessnitz, Paige Southerland, and Melissa Dickerson; great grandchildren, Joshua, Blake, Addysen, Olivia, and Ella; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Al Goss and Reverend Tommy Goss officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
