The Southern League has announced that Chattanooga Lookouts’ All-Star Daniel Palka has been named its Player of the Week for June 6 – June 12.

The Lookouts outfielder continued his torrid start to the month of June with an outstanding week where he hit .345 (10-for-29) with seven extra-base hits, four HRs, 10 RBIs, a .931 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.306.

His most impressive performance last week came on June 9 when he hit two home runs and drove in four runs against the Jacksonville Suns at home.  That multi-homer game was his third of the year and the four RBIs tied his season high.  He also collected multiple hits in three games this week and now has 18 multi-hit games on the year.

The slugger’s four home runs this week gives him 16 overall and nine this month.  His 16 home runs are tied for third overall and his nine homers in June are the most in all of Minor League Baseball during that span. He also ranks in the top five in all of MiLB this month in runs (14), extra-base hits (12), total bases (47), RBIs (19), slugging percentage (1.068) and OPS (1.483).

Palka and the Lookouts are 7-3 over their last 10 games and look to continue their strong end to the first halftonight against the Tennessee Smokies.  RHP Aaron Slegers is on the mound for the Lookouts against Tennessee’s RHP Tyler Skulina.

Fans who want to see the Lookouts All-Stars in action can come to AT&T Field on Thursday, June 23 – June 27 to watch the team kick off the second half.  To buy tickets to the rest of the season’s games, call the Lookouts ticket office at 423-267-4TIX or visit Lookouts.com.
