Associate Director of Athletics Tim Sceggel has been promoted to the Director of Athletics position at Covenant, announced Vice President for Student Development Dr. Brad Voyles.

Sceggel's promotion comes after Kyle Taylor stepped down from the position to accept a job with the Utah State men's basketball program.

"I am delighted to announce that Tim Sceggel has been promoted from associate director of athletics to director of athletics effective immediately," Voyles said.
"Tim has been the glue in the department during the past two athletic director administrations and has been instrumental in our transition to the NCAA as well as in our ongoing compliance."

"To explore and express the preeminence of Christ in college athletics is an unbelievable opportunity and I'm thrilled to be able to do it at my alma mater," Sceggel said. "I'm also grateful for the platform to serve our coaches and student-athletes in this context and look forward to how God will work in the athletic department in the coming years."

Sceggel joined the athletic department at Covenant in 2007. As the associate director of athletics, he was responsible for all NCAA and institutional compliance for Covenant athletics along with other internal operations including sport supervision, facilities, event management, and oversight of all student employees. Through his compliance duties, he successfully directed the completion of the college's transition from the NAIA to full membership in NCAA Division III in 2013.

Sceggel also serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the campus and holds faculty status in the Sport Administration program teaching various courses each semester. He was part of the two-person team that developed and launched the Sport Administration major in 2015. Additionally, he has been hired as an outside consultant for a number of clients including NAIA and NCAA Division III institutions.

His previous stops include the athletic department at the University of Louisville and the Mid-South Conference, both in Louisville, Ky., along with the athletic department at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.

In 2014, Sceggel received the prestigious Emerging Athletic Administrator award by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators. The award is given to one national honoree who has demonstrated a pattern of excellence and achievement in athletic administration during their first seven years as a full-time athletic administrator at the Division III level. Later in 2014, Sceggel added to his list of professional accolades as he was named to Sports Launch magazine's "Thirty Under 30" list in its May issue.

In addition to his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Covenant, he holds a master's degree in Sport Administration from the University of Louisville. Sceggel also sits on the Sport Administration Alumni Council at Louisville. He is currently in the midst of pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education Administration at the University of Alabama.

Sceggel maintains professional memberships in the National Association for Athletics Compliance, National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, and the North American Society for Sports Management.
