Standifer, Betty Robbins (Cleveland)

Betty Robbins Standifer, 74, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 in a Chattanooga Health Care facility.

Betty was the daughter of the late Elsie Davis Robbins and the Reverend Edgar Loyd Robbins II. She received her Bachelor’s Degrees from Lee University in Christian Education and Elementary Education. While a student at Lee, she was a member of Pioneers for Christ where she traveled abroad and around the U. S. She received her Master’s Degree from West Georgia University and her Doctorate from the University of Sarasota in Florida. Betty taught in Private Schools in North Carolina, Hawaii, Florida and the Bahamas. She taught in Public Schools in Bradley County Tennessee and in Georgia. She taught in Colleges in Georgia including Mercer University and Kennesaw State and in Lincoln Memorial, the Harragut, and Tennessee Campus where she was the Associate Professor of Graduate Education. Her students included Principals and Coaches. Betty was considered a loving, caring and compassionate teacher by anyone she taught! Because Evangelism was her passion and so she could have greater access to prisons for Chaplaincy, Betty obtained the Ordained Minister’s License through the Church of God her in Cleveland. Betty had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to travel, read and listen to Gospel music. She was a member of the City Church of Chattanooga.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Standifer of Cleveland; her sister, Dr. Patricia Robbins Allen and her husband Reverend Virgil Allen also of Cleveland; her brother, Eddie Robbins and his wife Cathy Conn Robbins of Cumming, GA; her nieces, Donna Allen Cone and her husband Alton, Marie Robbins, Missi Robbins Jaerling and Tiffany Robbins; her nephews, Reverend Steven “Steve” Allen and his wife Laura, Phillip Allen of Newport, TN; her sister-in-law, Margaret Gilbert; her brothers-in-law, Carson Leon Standifer and Ed Standifer and his wife Janette; and several great-nephews and cousins.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Friday, July 22 at 3 p.m. from the Westmore Church of God with Pastor Kelvin Page, Dr. Robert Crick and Dr. Mike Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Virgil Allen and Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Casket bearers will be Ashton Cone, Alton Cone, Phillip Allen, Nicholas Allen, Zachary Allen, Chandler Allen and Cameron Fox.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Friday before the Service at the Westmore Church of God.

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
