James Mullenix
James “Jim” Allen Mullenix, 66, of Soddy Daisy, died from brain cancer on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his home.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Soddy Daisy. During his long career he served his community as an Alaska state trooper, several policeman jobs in Alaska, Arizona and Tennessee and was the police chief in North Pole, Alaska. In Tennessee he was a Soddy Daisy police officer and his last job was with Hamilton County Park Ranger unit. He has been a volunteer fireman, EMS and in his spare time he built websites, mostly for churches. Jim also taught ASP Tactical Baton classes.
Before his death he lost his mother, Helen Gibson; father, Paul Mullenix; son, Jason Mullenix; brothers, George Mullenix and Don Gibson and sister, Nancy Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Fry Mullenix; sisters, Jean (Jack) West and Jill (Lester) Bingman; brothers, Ken (Barbie) Mullenix, Mark Mullenix and Matt Mullenix; sons, Justin (Jamie) Mullenix, Jim (Kim) Mullenix; stepson, Steven (Dana Woody) Morgan, stepdaughters, Kimberly (Randy) Lewis and Pamela Barnett; grandchildren, Jacob, Branden, Jeffery, Andrew and Kayla Mullinex, Tyler (Caitlin) Stokes, Casey (Jeaneé Thomas) Stokes, Christopher Davis, Erica (Brandon Pope) Hindman, Leslie (Aaron Branum) Lewis and Anna Woody; great-grandchildren, Brayden Davis, Carter and Sam Stokes, Hensley Pope, Kailey and Kamille Thomas.
Services will be held on Friday, July 29, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Seton Tomyn officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is on Thursday, July 28, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
