Three Dalton State athletes were named as 2015-2016 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars on Tuesday.

The criteria for selection to the prestigious group are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, according to Paige Thompson of the WGCA. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Rising senior Rachel Rebne and rising juniors Caroline Griffin and Ashley McDonald earned the recognition. Rebne is an honor graduate of Heritage High School of Ringgold.

Griffin is a native of Sycamore, Ga. and a graduate of Tift Area Academy. McDonald is an honor graduate of Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga.

All three were part of the 2015 Southern States Athletic Conference championship team that went on to finish tied for second in the NAIA Championship Tournament. Dalton State women’s golf will enter the third season of competition this fall.
