David H. Gagliano

David H. Gagliano, 70, of Ringgold, died on Thursday, August 25 after a lengthy illness.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he attended East Lake Elementary and Junior High, and Chattanooga High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee in 1968, where he was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band and UT Singers. He later completed his Masters of Education from Western Kentucky University.

David taught in both the Chattanooga Public Schools and Hamilton County Schools for many years, leading several area high school marching bands, which competed in regional and national band contests. His love for music began at an early age, and was his lifelong passion. He was especially fond of the Drum and Bugle Corps style and enjoyed watching video recordings of groups around the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Jimmie Gagliano.

David is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Addington Gagliano, of Ringgold, and a daughter, Suzanne Gagliano of Chattanooga; brothers, Stephen V. (Judy) of  Peachtree City, Georgia, and Paul R. Gagliano (Donna) of Hermitage, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Reverend Ben Matherly officiating. 

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
