Chattanooga Central Inducts Five Alums into Hall of Fame Tonight

Dinner at 5:45 p.m. Football vs. Soddy Daisy, 7:30 p.m.

Five Chattanooga Central High School star student-athletes will be inducted into the Central Sports Hall of Fame tonight prior to the Central-Soddy Daisy football game.

The five former student athletes are: Steve Arnold (1972, track and field), Gina Brooks (1985, softball), Steve Carroll (1966, football), Rick Duncan (1971, baseball), Gene Hall (1952, boxing).

Gene Hall (1952) … Southern Golden Gloves champion … at one point in his career won 32 bouts in a row before losing in the national Golden Gloves tournament.

Steve Carroll (1966) … member of UTs SEC championship teams in 1967 and 1969

Steve Arnold  (1972)  track and field 1972

Rick Duncan (1971) all-state in baseball at Central … three-time All-SEC performer at Vanderbilt .. led ‘Dores to two SEC titles … lifetime college batting average was .340 … played five years in the minor leagues with a .283 career batting average

Gina Brooks (1985).  led Central to a state softball championship in 1985 …  all-conference pitcher for Augusta (Ga.) State

A Bar-B-Que dinner ($5) and HOF ceremony preceding the game is set for 5:30 p.m. with kickoff at 7:30.
