Baylor, GPS Earn Division II Region Soccer Wins

Both the Baylor and GPS girls soccer teams posted DIvision II region soccer wins on Thursday.  

Baylor beat Brentwood Academy 3-1 and GPS beat Pope John Paul II 7-0.

In Baylor's win over Brentwood Academy Lea Hunter scored in the 28th minute off a free kick from Ara Rhodes.  

Lainee Bohannon scored off a breakaway from an assist from Kamryn Bloh, just before the halftime break. 

At the 47th minute, Brentwood Academy's McKinley Stiff scored to pull within in one, 2-1.

At the 79th minute, Lainee Bohannon scored off a Loni Lustig assist to give Baylor a 3-1 lead. 

"I thought we came out with good energy and focus," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "We did not do a good job of coming out of halftime with that same energy. The girls rebounded after the goal and settled in."

Peyton Randolph and Shannon Urey had two combined saves for Baylor.  

Baylor outshot Brentwood 11-2. 

GPS's Lane Lawrence and Myra Brock had two goals each in their 7-0 win.   Emily Large, Sam Jackson and Kendall McKoon had one goal each.  Kylie Eiselstein had two assists.  Jackson, Large and Lawrence also had assists.  

Avery Campbell had five saves for GPS and Lucy Newbold had one.
