Annie Goggans

Annie Ruth Goggans, 84, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, after many years of loving care by her husband, Jack K. Goggans, her family, the staff of Life Care of Redbank, and the support of Hospice of Chattanooga.

Annie Ruth Stott was born on June 13, 1932, in Fort Payne, Al., to the late Reverend James D. and Charlsie Elizabeth Stott. Her father pastored Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Sand Mountain, Al., where Jack and Ann were married on Nov. 26, 1955. They made Chattanooga their home and raised a family of five. They held membership at Hixson First Baptist Church.

Ann's personal faith in Jesus Christ was lived out daily. She loved and served her family, delighting in singing, especially hymns. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, welcoming all into their home with her warmth and grace. She enjoyed calling loved ones, writing cards and letters, and giving small cherished gifts to friends and family. Jack and Ann's quiet testimony of a Christ-centered marriage, anchored in faithful service to one another and others speaks volumes to us all. She will be greatly missed until the day we see her again with Christ Jesus.

She was preceded in death by younger brother, Vaughn John Stott and precious niece, Lydia Alexander.

Ann leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Jack K. Goggans, sons Norman Stuart Goggans (Tamie), Roger Neil Goggans (Shirley)of Louisville, TN, Lloyd Alexander Goggans (Terri), daughters Alethea Ruth Cruz (Flip) of Stafford, VA, and Amelia Gail Rambler (Ken)of Springboro, OH; elder sister, Ida Jane Campbell of Winfield, AL and younger brother, James Drayton Stott, of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law Howard L. Brewer, Anniston, AL; sister-in-law Clarice Stott, Trenton, AL; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Dr., Chattanooga, with the Reverend Louis Hanks officiating. There will be a visitation at the church two hours prior to services. Interment will be private at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation.
