Hixson, East Ridge Advance To District 8-AA Soccer Championship

The East Ridge and Hixson girls soccer teams advanced to the District 8-AA championship game in dramatic fashion Tuesday night. 

The third seeded Lady Pioneers traveled to second seeded Sequatchie County and with the game tied at 1-1 in the second overtime, Naida Xiloi Hernandez scored with 13 seconds left in the second 10 minute overtime to earn the win.  Kendal Dickson scored East Ridge's goal in regulation.   Rae Anna Dawson scored Sequatchie County's second half goal.  

East Ridge keeper Sarah Hudgens had six saves.  

At Hixson, the Lady Wildcats led 1-0 at the half and needed an overtime goal by Morgan Dupree to earn the win over Red Bank. Hixson led 1-0 at the half.   The Lady Lions scored three second half goals to tie the game and send it to overtime.    Dupree had two Hixson goals and Emily Darr had two.  Sydney Rigler had four saves for Hixson.  

Hixson and East Ridge will play for the district title on Thursday at 7 p.m.
