Covenant Golfers 12th At Piedmont Fall Invitational

The Covenant men's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the year on Tuesday with a 12th place finish at the 12th annual Piedmont Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club.

Host Piedmont came away with the team title after the Lions shot a 294 in the final round. Piedmont's Davis Cook and Truett-McConnell's Preston Wagaman were co-medalists as both posted a 1-over, 145 in the tournament. 

On Tuesday, Covenant posted a team score of 340 to fall to 12th place after being tied for 11th following Monday's first round.
Nathan Hawkins paced the Scots with his 81 in the final round to complete the tournament at 160 (79-81) for a 31st place finish overall. Josh Wall was 59th in the event following an 85 on Tuesday for a two-day score of 169 (84-85), while James Mitchell carded an 86 in the final round for a 171 (85-86). Marshall Kent rounded out the scoring players for Covenant with an 88 on Tuesday and a 172 (84-88) for the tournament.

Covenant finished ahead of USA South foe William Peace and bested Belhaven in the event.

The Scots will take part in the annual Chick-fil-A Invitational on Oct. 23-24 in Rome, Ga., at Stonebridge Golf Club.
