Evert L. Pellom Sr.
Evert L. Pellom Sr., age 80, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017 at his residence.
Evert was born Dec. 12, 1936 in Murray County, Ga., the son of the late George and Katie Dixon Pellom. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.
He loved to fish and if he was not fishing he was talking about fishing. He was a member of the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from Shaw after 30 plus years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Lawson Pellom of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Evert Pellom Jr. of Dalton, Dennis and Lisa Pellom of Calhoun, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Michael McGee of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Claude Chapman of Chatsworth, Ga.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services to celebrate the life of Evert L. Pellom will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. from the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Guffey and Reverend Robert Beavers officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Jackie Lawson, Jason Pellom, Chris Quarles, Michael Martin, Mark Martin, and Dallas McGee serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
