A.L. Norton Jr., 86, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017, in a Rome hospital.
Native to Chattooga County, GA, Mr. Norton was born to the late Arthur Lee Norton, Sr. and Mattie Katherine Dodd Norton on June 10, 1930. He was a member and Deacon of Four Mile Baptist Church and a retired supervisor @ Georgia Rug Mill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Allen Norton; a daughter, Mary Angelia Norton; sisters, Mozelle Edwards and Ava Mountain; and brothers, Sidney Norton and Elgin Norton.
She is survived by her daughters, Freida (Tommy) Dover, Teresa Scott and Melody (Mark) Sentell; sons, Grant (Ginger) Norton and Vic (Stephanie) Norton; grandchildren, Danny Scott, Jr., Tommy Dover, Jr., Jeff Dover, Alex Sentell, Mikaela Norton, Josie Norton, James Gilleland, Jessica Stricklin and Jennifer Gilleland; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 12 at 2 p.m. from the Four Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Sanford Deberry, Rev. Joel Smith, Rev. Doyle Kelly, and Dr. Charles Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Tommy Dover, Jr., Jeff Dover, Alex Sentell, Jo Stricklin, Gary Norton, Phil Mountain, and Jeff Edwards; Honorary Pallbearersare Jon Payne, Scott Norton and members of Four Mile Baptist Church.
The Family will receive friends Saturday, February 11 from 6-8 p.m. from the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, who is in charge of arrangements.
