Bradley Central’s Caleb Reed threw a complete game four-hitter on Friday as the Bears blanked Lincoln County 9-0 in the Ooltewah Invitational.
Reed struck out nine in the game.
Playing at home at the Toby McKenzie Baseball Complex, Bears pitching recorded their second straight shutout. On Thursday, Bradley shut down Jefferson County 4-0 on Tripp Storrs’ two-hitter.
Bradley Central (8-2) got off to a quick start with three runs in the first inning off Lincoln County’s Ryan McAdams.
Dylan Standifer was hit by a pitch, Cason Still singled and both advanced on a wild pitch. Reed hit a slow roller toward third and the Lincoln defender threw the ball away and Standifer and Still scored. Pete Williams’ hit drove in Reed for a 3-0 lead.
Reed walked in the third and Riley Black reached on another error. Williams’ groundout scored Reed and Black came home on Jake Pressley’s sacrifice fly.
The Bears salted away the victory with a four-run sixth.
Jake Thompson walked and Eli Wilson singled. A Standifer single scored Thompson. Still walked to load the bases and Reed blasted a three-run triple.
The Bears pay back-to-back games on Saturday, taking on Murfreesboro Central Magnet at 11 a.m. and Bearden at 1:30. Bearden hangs around to play Cleveland at 1:30.
