Howard Wilkerson, 95, beloved citizen of Jasper, Tennessee, died on Sunday, March 26, 2017

He was the son of the late William Harold and Clara Arnold Wilkerson, and was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Mildred Lewis Wilkerson.

Educated in the Stevenson, Al., and Marion County, public schools, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant, and then began his 35-year career with TVA, working both at Hale’s Bar and Widow’s Creek, before retiring in 1984. He was a deacon of Jasper First Baptist Church where he was in the Men’s Adult Class, and was also a member of Olive Branch Lodge #297 F&AM.

He is survived by several dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, at the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, with Reverend Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service.
