James Herring

James “J.D.” Herring, 86 departed this life on May 24, 2017 at Life Care of Red Bank. 


J.D. was a member of Stephen’s Temple C.P. Church. He was a graduate of Morgan County Training School in Hartselle, AL and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He relocated to Chattanooga, where he retired from Erlanger Hospital. He was the owner and operator of Bright Cleaning Service. He enjoyed listening to blues and gospel music.  


He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olean Herring; daughter Rosemary Herring (Charles Word), sons; Ronald Herring of Hollywood, FL and Jeffery Herring of Chattanooga, TN; sister Martha Nell Jackson of Hartselle, AL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, at Stephen Temple Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1601 E. 3rd St. with Reverend Ernest Jefferson officiating. Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. 

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home Chapel, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-995.
