Ella Moore
Ella Moore, 86, passed away on May 26, 2017, at Life Care Center of Chattanooga.
She was born on May 6, 1931 to the union of Melvin and Ida Conner. She gave her life to Christ in 1964 under the covering of Rev. W. H. Thompson, pastor at New Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member, singing in the choir until health began to fail.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gennie Conner; sister, Charlie Mae Ford; son-in-law, James E. Smith, Jr.; two grandsons, Horace Maurice Moore and Julius L. Moore.
Ella, or as we affectionately called her “Granny”, married in 1954 to the late Will D. “Bill” Moore and a union of six children were reared to cherish her memory - sons, Donnie (Lanee) Conner, Austell, Ga.; Winfred (Danita) Moore, Shelly Moore and David (Alicia) Moore all of Chattanooga; two daughters, Gwynn (Preston) Cain, Fernadina Beach, FL and Terry Smith, Ooltewah, TN; two step daughters, Brenda(Edward) Hammond and Willie Rose Moore; her only brother, Frank James Conner, Bradenton, Fl.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, June 3, at New Horizon Baptist Church. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, June 2, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
