Louise Guerry, known to all of her friends as Weezie, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on June 20, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with numerous health conditions.

Weezie, a lifelong Episcopalian, was loved by so many for her incredible warmth and generous spirit.  She loved her family dearly and simply refused to leave them behind and succumb to the challenges she faced.

Weezie attended Wesleyan College, where she competed in both golf and swimming.  After becoming part of the Guerry family, she turned her primary attention to tennis.  She loved to play the game, to travel throughout the nation to tournaments with all of her children and ultimately to watching countless hours of her favorite players competing on television.

Weezie will always be remembered for the strength of her will as she often led the way for other women.  After playing tennis, she switched some of her attention to racquetball and reached the finals of the Southern Women’s Championships.  Never one to remain still, distance running was her next frontier.  Weezie was the first female competitor ever in the Chattanooga Chase, although she was troubled by the ambulance that followed her the entire way!

Her parents were Frances and Harrison Pemberton.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving brother, Dr. Harry Pemberton; children, Zan (Julie) Guerry, Chappell Kane and Pem (Maureen) Guerry; grandchildren, Alexis (Barry) Bogo, Johnny Guerry, Jeff Guerry, Helen Guerry, Sean Guerry, Colleen Guerry and Challie Kane; and great-grandchildren, Blake Bogo and McKenzie Guerry.

The family would like to express their gratitude to many devoted caregivers over the years from Alexian Village and BrightStar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society, which has a special area known as Weezie’s Way.  Please visit www.wannfuneralhome.com to share personal memories and words of comfort to the family.

A visitation to celebrate Weezie’s life with friends of the family will be held at Wann Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.

Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home, 4000 Tennessee Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37409, 423 821-7551.
