Norenia Breaux

Norenia Meredith Breaux, 90, of Cleveland, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 26, 2017 at a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Sherman McCallum and Alice Woody McCallum. Norenia was the widow of Bert M. Meredith and Pierre Oliver Breaux. Both of her spouses were Navy veterans of World War II.

Following a fulfilling career as regional buyer and division manager of Belk (Atlanta), Norenia retired from Belk in Cleveland.  Afterward, she and Oliver, retired from Bowater, served many years through leadership roles at Calhoun United Methodist Church.   Her special ministry was to the homebound.  Among her greatest joys upon returning to Calhoun were extensive destination travel throughout North America, traditional Southern cooking augmented with Louisiana Creole dishes, flower gardening, bird watching and crocheting personal Afghans and prayer shawls for over 150 people in the community.

In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie McCallum Coleman; stepdaughter, Linda Breaux Bishop, son-in-law, Robert E. Rittenhouse; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Meredith Rittenhouse of Cleveland; son, Craig M. (Lisa) Meredith of Cleveland; stepchildren, Peter (Vicki) Breaux of Long Beach, CA, Sidney (Julie) Breaux of Riceville and Pam Breaux (Bill) Lemon of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Aaron, Allan (Sherry) and Glenn (Norma); eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends from coast to coast and border to border; and her beloved caregivers at Morningside and Hospice.

The service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Corey Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Mrs. Breaux leaves behind a legacy of wholehearted and sacrificial love for her family, friend and church.  Her family requests that memorials be made to either the food pantry of CUMC or to the Guillain-Barre Foundation (GBS/CIDP) in memory of Marjorie Coleman and in honor of Aaron, Allan and Glenn.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Meredith/Breaux family guestbook at www.fikefh.com.
