The Planning Commission on Monday afternoon recommended approval for a request by former City Councilman Dan Page for a short term vacation rental.

Mr. Page said he and his wife, Shirley, would like to occasionally rent out their home on Hamill Road while they are traveling to spend time with family.

He said the home on North Chickamauga Creek across from Greenway Farm includes 3,200 square feet of space.

The change would require that the property go to an R-3 zoning since the property is not within the short term vacation rental zone approved recently by the City Council.

It was stipulated that no buildings will be added at the site.

The request next goes to the City Council.

Officials said the council has been approving some and turning down others on requests for short term vacation rentals outside the newly approved zone.
