Braman, Baylor Win Tennessee Classic Titles

Saturday was a day for celebration among Chattanooga high school cross country girls as Carley Braman of GPS was the overall winner in the Tennessee Classic while the Baylor girls were the team champs in the 16-team field.

Braman was victorious at Nashville's Percy Warner Park steeplechase course as she crossed the line in 20 minutes, 59 seconds to lead the Bruisers to a fifth-place finish.  Teammate Jane Eiselstein was second overall in 21:12.

The Baylor girls had four finishers in the top 10 with Grace Pippin leading the way in third with a time of 21:14.  Emrick Garrett was fourth in 21:26 while Janie Pippenger and Sydney Cansler were seventh and 10th respectively, with times of 22:09 and 22:26.

Merrit Newton rounded out the top five for the Lady Red Raiders as she was 14th in 22:45.

Baylor finished with 28 points while runner-up Harpeth Hall was next with 65.
