Alexander Votes To Extend Tennessee CoverKids

  • Monday, January 22, 2018

Senator Lamar Alexander on Monday voted to extend Tennessee’s CoverKids for six years, temporarily suspend the medical device tax and other health care taxes, and fund other government programs until Feb. 8:

He said, “Congress has sent to the president a bill to provide 6 years of funding for CoverKids, which provides insurance to nearly 74,000 Tennessee children and pregnant women.

The bill also temporarily suspends some of Obamacare’s most harmful taxes—including the medical device tax that hurts the medical device industry in Memphis, and the ‘Cadillac’ health plan tax that will become a ‘Chevy and Buick’ plan tax because premiums have skyrocketed under Obamacare.”
